Ring Engraving Machine

This manual engraving machine is called a pantograph. It is used to engrave the inside of rings. The engraving tip is a diamond that penetrates the metal and spreads it to create a permenant line. It has a brass template at the base, out of sight. The letters in the ring are made by tracing this template, and pressing the diamond into the metal. To get new letters, or pictures, we use a laser to make templates.
